Azalea
These colorful plants originated in China and Japan, and made their way to the U.S. via England, France and Germany around the 1830s. Azaleas are flowering shrubs. Shade tolerant, they prefer living near or under trees. These shrubs produce flowers for several weeks, representing prosperity and happiness. Azaleas flower in early spring, and the blooms are produced in a range of colors.
