Lif and Lifthasir

Liv and Livtrasir

Liv and Livtrasir (e.g., Lif, LifÞrasir, lit. "Life" and "breathing life") in Norse mythology are a human couple, a woman and a man, who survived Ragnarok. During Ragnarok, when Fenrir the wolf's son, Skoll, swallows the sun, plunging the world into darkness and the sea breaks its banks; Liv and Livrasir take refuge in the Hoddmimir grove, feeding on the dew, and become the progenitors of a new generation of people.
