Northern pintail
The pintail is a duck species with wide geographic distribution that breeds in the northern areas of Europe and across the Palearctic and North America. The northern pintail is a bird of open wetlands which nests on the ground, often some distance from water. Female pintails have been known to protect their nests by distracting the potential predator. They pretend to be injured and lead the potential predator away from the nest.
