Rasping insects

Rasping insects

Rasping insects (such as mites, snails, slugs and thrips) actually scrape off the surface of the leaves as sandpaper would. The Roman snail is a gastropod mollusk and one of the most widely known and distributed snail species in the world. Despite its sluggishness, the Roman snail is a voracious herbivore and is most abundant in chalky habitats—where calcium-rich vegetation helps it to maintain its shell.
