Rubens

Rubens

Sir Peter Paul Rubens (28 June 1577 – 30 May 1640) was a Flemish artist and diplomat from the Duchy of Brabant in the Southern Netherlands (modern-day Belgium). Rubens was a painter producing altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects. Between 1610 and 1614, he created two of his most famous works called “The Raising of the Cross” (1610) and “The Descent from the Cross” (1611–1614).
