Seed drill

Seed drill

A seed drill is a device used in agriculture that sows seeds for crops. The seed drill sows the seeds at the proper seeding rate and depth, ensuring that the seeds are covered by soil. This saves them from being eaten by birds and animals, or being dried up due to exposure to the sun. In 1701, Englishman Jethro Tull changed all that with his invention of the seed drill. Pulled along by a horse, this machine carved out neat furrows, then dropped seeds into them, which proved to be a very efficient way of growing crops.
