Black-eyed Susan
Rudbeckia hirta, commonly called black-eyed Susan, is a North American flowering plant, native to Eastern and Central North America. It has now been found in all 10 Canadian Provinces and all 48 of the states in the contiguous United States. Just like echinacea, this flower has been used in traditional herbal medicine. Juice from the roots has been used to heal earaches. Black eyed susans are pioneer plants, one of the first plants to grow after a fire or other natural disaster.
