Little penguin
The little penguin is the smallest species of penguin. It grows to an average of 33 cm. It is found on the coastlines of southern Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, they are often called fairy penguins because of their small size. In contrast to the other species, Little Penguins are nocturnal. That means they generally do not enter the shore before dusk and leave it before dawn. They forage during the day and often will sleep beside the nest at night after they have fed chicks.
